Although victimization has widely demonstrated to have negative consequences in minors, most of crime against child go unreported. This doomes most of the victims to reach adulthood without recieving any of the available supports. Studies have highlighted the unique role of school in this regard, but they also have found alarming rates od underreporting by school staff. Aims: The present study analyzes detection and reporting knowledge and behaviour among school staff in Spain. It also looks for variables related with the decision to report or not to report. Methodology: One hundred and eighty-four school staff members from 17 differents schools completed a self administered questionnaire. Results: Over 74% of school staff members has supected at least one situation of victimization during their careers, ubt only 27% had actually reported a case. Reported behaviour could be predicted by gender, years of experience and two statements assessing respondents' knowledge of victimization. Conclusions: In order to protect the victims by early reporting it is necessary to overcome certain missconceptions, raise awareness among school staff, design new trainings and interventions and adapt the school dynamics in the light of these findings.
