Engineering education is a training that encompass learning the theoretical knowledge of concepts, and real time application domains. The innovation in engineering happens every moment and the key for the learner to keep in pace with the current trend becomes necessary. Hence the learners need to understand the basics to extend their knowledge to application domains. The role of engineering is also bound by ethical values and the understanding of social and cultural values. In this context a new approach has been designed to facilitate learning of life philosophies through Digital Signal Processing (DSP) concepts. DSP is an undergraduate subject offered to students from circuit branches. DSP basically deals with designing algorithms for obtaining signals from the real world and processing it to extract useful information. Learning the DSP technology involves both software and hardware concepts. But correlating software and real time hardware is a challenging task for learners in undergraduate packed curriculum. To facilitate this process, skits based on core DSP concepts were developed using simple day to day tools and performed with learners. The concept was introduced with simple analogies. Then students were made to participate in skits corresponding to key concepts. After the skits, learners were educated about the correlation with Life philosophies. Thereby it helped the learners to remember and understand the concepts well. Three case studies were taken up for this study. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed methodology, the class was divided into two groups. One group skits with analogies were employed as learning mechanism, whereas for the second group the conventional black board teaching was used. We found that the inculcation of life philosophies through simple skits, helped learners better to understand the concepts as well the moral values of life.
