Presentation abstract
Towards the end of the 18th century, the rapid progress on the industry has increased the influence of man on nature, while weakened the bonds between man and nature. In this case, modern man who started to see himself as a part of nature and as a manager, has started to seek various concepts to describe and reestablish his relationship with nature. As one of these concepts, “ecology”s first foundations were laid by 18th-century romantics, who have turned there back to industry to search for semantic integrity entirely in nature. The ecological thought that started with a search for meaning has turned into an effort to establish a kind of dialectic with nature. The main aim of these ideas and policies is to protect the world and to create a more livable environment by minimizing the destruction of modern man on nature and environmental changes. All the while, an ecological capitalism has started under the influence of postmodernism. This capitalism has begun to "sell" this motto by protecting the motive to reestablish the bonds between man and nature. Ecology has begun to be used as a counterweight to the word "natural", rather than a being a precaution and a search for meaning. Depending on this situation, many conflicts has started on the landscape scale. In this context, while conducting research on this topic, three basic ways will be followed: 1- Examining the theoretical background of ecology concept from 18th century Romanticism to present and determination of breakpoints 2- Examining the relationship between the concepts of “nature” and “natural” within the concept of “ecology” 3- Reading the nature-natural-ecological concept conflict by mass housing projects through semi-structured interviews with their users and examining how this conceptual conflict affects the spatial preference in landscape and housing.
