The “glass ceiling” is one of the most compelling metaphors for analyzing inequalities between men and women in the workplace. This research paper tries to explore if the phenomenon of “glass ceiling” exists particularly for women educationist in the coaching industry of Kota and attempts to discover why coaching industry is male-dominated and why many of the women are not occupying the top in this field. Secondly, perceptions of women educationists are posed as a reason for the existence of a “glass ceiling”. The survey was conducted using a self-administered questionnaire and the sample consisted of 150 women coaching educationists of Kota city. The results reflected that there are evidence of glass ceiling – in form of promotions and wages. Family factors and the lack of flexible work arrangements emerged as reasons why women are being held back.
