Presentation abstract

A pedagogy can reinforce key lessons necessary beyond the curriculum itself. Combining collaborative and experiential learning practices in education boost student’s understanding and acceptance of the driving principles underpinning social innovation and open innovation platforms which are rapidly evolving and transforming sustainable economies and cultures globally. This paper provides a framework for the combined pedagogy, uses empirical research via case studies to identify factors to measure the frameworks viability, and describes the potential benefits of the pedagogy to these emerging trends in the business of innovation. When more academic institutions orient and transform traditional and emerging pedagogy to take into consideration the social and economic practices that are pivotal in transforming the present and future modes of innovation then they better position their students for success.
