The present study deals with the relations between two fundamental wealth of Bangladesh—the rural culture and film. This paper is designed to fill up the vacuum of film-based research combining the social aspects, and reveals the visual representation of the rural culture of Bangladesh. Two simultaneous process is happening from the last two decades in Bangladesh: the conduit of relationship between the urban and rural community is loosening, and the film industry is booming. The urban-based film industry is now portraying the rural Bangladesh in home and abroad. So, at first it is to identify the reality of rural culture, and how they are being represented through film as a visual media. This endeavor presents a transparent and more reliable scenario of the village and tries to mitigate the lacking on understanding of rural reality of Bangladesh. This paper also provides the essential thoughts on how the filmmakers represent the relative version of reality which is necessary to comprehend in this very era of motion pictures. For this purpose, certain dominant films which present the rural culture of Bangladesh have been studied.
